Things I Learned The Hard Way

When Stacie and I started Geocaching near the end of 2008, I jumped into it full steam ahead.  If Stacie asked if I wanted to go hiking in the mountains, biking along the Sante Fe Trail, or walking downtown, my answer was “I don’t care as long as we can Geocache!”.  Anytime we went somewhere I pulled my smartphone out and checked for a nearby cache.  I was like a sponge absorbing what I could pull from online and cachers we met on the trail. I learned a ton from listening to the Podcacher podcast and a few other Internet caching shows.  I would stay up really late at night reading logs from random caches.  Some things I learned the hard way.  I used to have a co-worker that would always say “If you don’t know, you don’t know!”.  This is so true.  I wouldn’t have ever thought to ask questions concerning most of what you are about to read.  Some of you will read the list and utter “DUH”.  Hopefully, some of you will glean something from it.  Like most people, I learn from others’ mistakes, but the “take-away” is nothing compared to what I learned from my own mistakes. Not all of you will agree with me about some of these things, and that’s OK.  I’d like to hear from you.  Please visit the Contact Us page and email me.
